About GRE
Graduate Record Examinations is a standardized test taken by students who are applying to postgraduate courses in the US and in some other parts of the world. Quantitative Reasoning
This is where you comfort level with numbers and quantitative data is tested. You’ll have to understand the problem and use models and mathematical formulas (from geometry, algebra, arithmetic) to solve them. The good news is that you will have access to a calculator.

The online test is offered round the year at Prometric test centres. You can take GRE test once in a span of 21 days. This applies even if have cancelled the score of previous test and you can appear for GRE for five times in a year. First you need to create ‘ My GRE account’. There are four ways to register for the GRE general test. They are: Online, Phone and Mail and Fax registration. Candidates can opt from Online and Mail registration in the case of GRE subject test. These are the names of few centres available Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Dehradun, Gandhinagar, Gurgaon, Gwalior, Hyderabad, Indore, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nasik, New Delhi, Nizamabad, Patna, Pune, Trivandrum, Vadodara and Vijawada.
GRE TEST DETAILS
The computerised test takes place for about 3hrs 45minutes. There are few centres in which paper based tests are also conducted but mostly online exams takes place. There are six sections and a 10 minute break is given after third section during the exam.
An unidentified unscored section that does not count toward your score may be included and may appear in any order after the Analytical Writing section. Questions in the unscored section are being tried out either for possible use in future tests or to ensure that scores on new editions of the test are comparable to scores from earlier editions.
An identified research section that does not count toward your score may be included in place of the unscored section. The research section will always appear at the end of the test. Questions in this section are included for ETS research purposes.
GRE Fees structure
The registration fee to take the GRE is $205. This is cheaper than the $250 fee that you have to pay for GMAT. ETS is also willing to be flexible on the GRE test fee for test takers who can prove their financial hardship.
There are extra charges ($50) if you want to change your center or reschedule the test. In Indian currency (Rupees) is INR 12,000. This test pricing is based on an exchange rate of 62 Rupees/Dollar. Use the prevailing rate to find the latest registration cost of the GRE test in rupees.
